MOUNTAIN OF THE SAGES ———————
It was the time of summer holidays. Andre, Elon’s older brother supported the intention of the trip that our familiar children dreamed of Parents have agreed to this trip provided Andre acts as guardian and guide.
Elon and Reni planned,of course, to take the dog Trolly and the pid Fyfyand the tiger Mun with them.
The purpose of the trip vere Sages Mountain visible in the distance on other side of the river
The children vere fascinated by the TV report about this mountain.
They left early in the morning. Across the river from the harbor near animal asylum to the other side, they were transported by the barge with the permission of Mr.Jeremy.
Next, they drove a small loff-road car, rented from the asylum. They ode an unpaved road trough secluded, steppe areas. Thy weather was nive, not too warm, a little foggy. There was a smell of herbst and grasses in the air. The vast band of rocky mountains was slowly getting closer.
Our travellers have finally arrived at the station cable car leading to the top of the mountain.
Animals, Fyfy and Mun,led on leashes, can enter small,half-open cable car carriages. Andre asked: ShallI leave you here ? Reni added: Do you or don’t you wan to be the first animals to conquer of this mountain.
Elon assured: We will hold you firmly !
When cable car went up, you could really be afraid. Slide slowly up the wagons creaked and swayed, almost colliding with the support columns. This cable car was already very old and worn out.
Finally, they got off at the terminal station, which was not, however, the top of the mountain.
It was worth getting here, because from the viewing platform there was a beautiful view of the world. It was far down to see the river and animal asylum were also visible, as well as the city where the children lived. There was even a mysterious garden of monks, forests and meadows behind it,and the blue of distant sea. Because Fyfy and Trolly had poor eyesight, the children showed them how to use the scopes placed on the platform. Part of the floor of the platform was made of transparent glass and when it happened it seemed that bees were arriving there.
Andre said: Bess fly here because surely the sages upstairs grow flowers or drink sweet juices. It’s time for us to visit them !
To get to the sages headquarters, you had to entera narrow, rock elevatorand drive a dozen meters up. First the took the elevator Andre with the tiger Mun and the pig Fyfy. When the elevator returned to the bottom, get into it.
The wise men’s quarters were built into rocks that made up most of the walls here. The canopies were made of thick glass that let the light in. Everywhere there were a lot of glazed display cases filled with large and thick ancient books. In various nooks and crannies at the tables, a sage sat and read or looked at one of the books. There was an atmosphere of silence and focus.
Children and animals behaved very politely, moved quietly and silently. They felt like they were in an enchanted heavenly place.
One of the sages invited them to a larger room and indicated tha they should siton stone benches. He was a tall, thin, grayman with penetrating but gentle look. He greeted Andre and children, petted the animals. He said his name Anaxymandros, Anx for shot. Then he said: I know why you came here. After wisdom, true ?
Andre was responsible: Yes, Reverend Father Anx. We want to become smarter and better than we have even been.
Anx asked: Why you want to be smarter and better? Have you thought about this ?
I hope that you want to be wise and good in order to better understand the world and to make this world better and more beatiful for people, and for animals, for plants too.
Yes,Father Anx: they all shouted. They told him about themselves, who they are, what they do.
Then Anx asked: Tell me more about your mistakes or failures. Then tell me more about your dreams . Do not be ashamed. You are very young and you have the right to make mistakes and even more so to dream. Let everyone speak something in turn.
And that’s what happened. Andre, Elon and Reni answered the question. Then even answered Trolly, Fyfy and Mun. It was all beautiful, touching and exciting.
When they had finished,Anx said: Thank you for your honesty and courage. Enjoy now our bread and cheese, drink our spring water. And listen to what I have to say:
This mountain is called the Mountain of Temptation..Because a long time ago, the wisest and best person in the world, Jesus Christ himself, stayed here for 40 days.He mediated On his life and mission, He was also here tempted by Satan not to fulfill His mission. I hope that you are learning or will learn this in religion classes in your schools. Also about the 7 sins and the 10 commandments.
Here,I’ll just tell you the most important.
The most important thing in our lives is to learn the truth about the world.
The second most important thing is dream and change our world for the better. To do this, you need to be able to distinguish between good end evil and fight against evil, cooperate with other people for the good. Cooperate also,of course, with animals and all nature.
Never give up. Treat inevitable mistakes and failures as a lesson for the future.
We must believe that we are the heirs of God and should perform the task he has instructed us.
There is a divine spark in all of us and we should not extinguish it.
Ending this, Anx gave everyone a medallion with the inscription:
“Be a Spark of God
No dust miserable
Be an Echo of Good
To the end of the self
Never goes out
Never be silent”
And that was the end of meeting. Children and animals have ben informed that they been appointed Students Of The Sages and can always return here and will be welcomed.
Escorted to the elevator, they began to return home. It was already afternoon.
